You can delve into the region’s history and explore original buildings from a range of different eras. You’ll also find a traditional bakery, where you can watch tasty Edwardian treats being made, plus there’s a vintage Tea Room where you can find sandwiches, cakes, and scones, as well as The Sun Inn for traditional pub grub and locally brewed ales!

With our Beamish Museum Experience Package, your unlimited Beamish Museum Pass will be ready to collect from the museum entrance on your first day, a driver to take you there and back at the time convenient for you if required, a night in one of the beautiful en-suite bedrooms at the Inn and a hearty full English Breakfast at the Inn in the morning.
The Beamish Museum Experience Package includes:
- 12 month pass to Beamish Museum (Please note Passes are not valid for evening events)
- Driver to and from Beamish Museum (optional if you would like to walk or take your own car)
- Nights stay at South Causey Inn
- Breakfast the next morning
Additional add on's:

You can extend your Beamish Museum Experience Package Stay from one night to two to ensure you can make the most of everything Beamish Museum has to offer, plus everything we have going on at South Causey Inn. You can even venture into our local cities to truly engage in the Northern culture.

Day of arrival:
We recommend starting your experience by exploring Beamish Museum on your first day. You can spend the entire day at the Museum which tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s,1900s, 1940s and 1950s! Don’t worry if you can’t fit it all in, your one year unlimited passes are on us - so you can return at your leisure!
You can then make your short journey back to the Inn, where you can enjoy a seasonal dinner in our Shafto Suite Restaurant. Why not try one of our brewed on site beers or our own signature RIP gins? The perfect night cap before heading back to your room and resting your head for the night.
Stay over day:
On the second day, you can continue your exploration of the North by visiting the historical Durham City, Durham Cathedral, and Durham Castle which offer experiences for all; from walking in the paths of saints, paying pilgrimage to shrines, marvelling at some of the oldest surviving Norman architecture of its scale, ghostly tales of the Castles’ Grey Lady or visiting the location of some more modern day epics - Harry Potter and Marvel!
If you fancy a day with a more alfresco theme - explore the Durham river banks, view epic bridges from the Prince Bishop River Cruiser, or visit Durham University Botanical Gardens. Or simply soak up Durham City - walking the cobbled streets, visiting the indoor market, and visiting the many shops, cafes bars, and restaurants that are making their history part of Durham City history.
Day of departure
As you say goodbye to the North East - take a moment to visit the Causey Arch & Tanfield Railway - only a stones throw from the Inn.
