South Causey Inn is a beautiful ‘country feel’ family pub, restaurant, and cocktail bar situated within the heart of the Beamish Valley.

Tuck into a hearty breakfast by the log burning in our cosy snug area, or you may decide to join us in our main restaurant, the Shafto Suite, for a light lunch or romantic dinner for two.
Our private dining pods are situated in our beautiful gardens which are magical spots for enjoying the likes of our afternoon teas and delicious range of cocktails.

Dine at the Inn

At South Causey Inn, we take enormous care and pride in our food, using locally sourced ingredients. We work closely with our trusted suppliers to ensure the best products are provided by local farmers and fish from the local market is brought in daily to our restaurant for our customers.

Causey Cocktails

No matter the occasion, you'll catch us doing what we do best, concocting the most delicious cocktails and gins, with a Causey flair! We create every cocktail with a meticulous eye and pride ourselves on using our home-distilled gins and homegrown botanicals in every ingredient.

Private Dining Pods

Our Private Dining Pods are fitted with internal heaters, solid floors and doors, speakers for music, and festoon lights throughout - making your experience a one to remember! Blankets and hot water bottles will be provided for you to keep you extra cosy during the colder nights.

Causey Afternoon Tea

Indulge in a selection of delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, and a mouth-watering range of homemade goodies. Enjoy this quintessentially British tradition with our free-flowing wide range of loose leaf teas, coffee, or a yummy hot chocolate!

We're Dog Friendly

At South Causey Inn, we passionately believe that dog-friendliness is the key ingredient to the perfect location. We have six dogs and a cat of our own, you'll see Socks the cat roaming the grounds when you arrive! We have separate dining areas which you can book with your furry friend.

    We gladly welcome our guests to bring along their four-legged friends, whether that be for a night away in one of our dog-friendly bedrooms, or lunch and dinner in our dog-friendly dining areas.

    We just have a few house rules... to respect all diners who come to South Causey Inn, we kindly ask that you keep your pooch on a lead, not let them on the furniture, and keep feeding time outside in the bowls provided by us. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon!
