South Causey Inn is a beautiful ‘country feel’ family pub, restaurant, and cocktail bar situated within the heart of the Beamish Valley.

Tuck into a hearty breakfast by the log burning in our cosy snug area, or you may decide to join us in our main restaurant, the Shafto Suite, for a light lunch or romantic dinner for two.
Our private dining pods are situated in our beautiful gardens which are magical spots for enjoying the likes of our afternoon teas and delicious range of cocktails.

    Breakfast (for non-hotel residents):
    - Days: Monday to Sunday
    - Time: 09:30 - 11:30
    - Reservation: Tables can be booked between 09:30 and 11:00

    Lunch & Dinner:
    - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday:
    - Time: 11:45 - 20:30
    - Reservation: Tables can be booked between 12:00 and 19:45

    Friday:
    - Time: 11:45 - 21:00
    - Reservation: Tables can be booked between 12:00 and 20:30

    Saturday:
    - Time: 11:45 - 21:00
    - Reservations:
    - Can be booked between 11:30 and 12:15
    - From 17:00 to 20:30
    - Walk-in Basis: From 12:30 to 16:45, tables cannot be reserved.

    Sunday & Bank Holidays:
    - Time: 11:45 - 19:45
    - Reservation: Tables can be booked starting at 12:00.
    - Walk-in Basis: For the rest of the day, tables cannot be reserved.

    Sunday Carvery:
    - Time: 12:00 - 14:30 (approximately)
    - Reservation: Tables can be booked between 11:45 and 12:00.
    - Walk-in Basis: After 14:30, tables cannot be reserved.

    Please Note:

    • Our serving times, closing hours, and menus may change, especially during busy periods, bank holidays, and festive seasons. During these times, a limited menu may be available. Our chefs may alter or substitute dishes to ensure the best quality, taking into account seasonality, sustainability, and changes from our local suppliers. For more information, please call us.
    • We have a limited number of high chairs available on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • The maximum number of guests that can be booked at one table is 20, and the table is available for 2 hours. For groups larger than 20 guests, please email events@southcausey.co.uk, and our Events Manager, Frances, will be happy to assist you with your reservation.

We're Dog Friendly

We passionately believe that dog-friendliness is the key ingredient to the perfect location. We have six dogs and a cat of our own, you'll see Socks the cat roaming the grounds when you arrive! We have separate dining areas which you can book with your furry friend.

    We gladly welcome our guests to bring along their four-legged friends, whether that be for a night away in one of our dog-friendly bedrooms, or lunch and dinner in our dog-friendly dining areas.

    We just have a few house rules... to respect all diners who come to South Causey Inn, we kindly ask that you keep your pooch on a lead, not let them on the furniture, and keep feeding time outside in the bowls provided by us. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Private Dining Pods

Our Private Dining Pods are fitted with internal heaters, solid floors and doors, speakers for music, and festoon lights throughout - making your experience a one to remember! Blankets and hot water bottles will be provided for you to keep you extra cosy during the colder nights.

Breakfast, Coffee & Scones

Start the day right with a traditional Causey Breakfast, or relax by the log-burning fire in our bar with a choice of our loose leaf teas, fresh coffee and our delicious homemade scones. We also have a delicious selection of sweet treats on our Daily Cakes Menu.
