South Causey Inn is a beautiful ‘country feel’ family pub, restaurant, and cocktail bar situated within the heart of the Beamish Valley.

Tuck into a hearty breakfast by the log burning in our cosy snug area, or you may decide to join us in our main restaurant, the Shafto Suite, for a light lunch or romantic dinner for two.
Our private dining pods are situated in our beautiful gardens which are magical spots for enjoying the likes of our afternoon teas and delicious range of cocktails.

    Main Menu: Serving & Booking Times

    Breakfast (non-hotel residents)

    Monday to Sunday: 09:30 - 11:30

    Tables can be booked between 09:30 - 11:00.

     

    Lunch & Dinner

    Monday to Friday: 11:45 - 21:00

    Tables can be booked between 12:00 - 20:30.

     

    Saturday: 11:45 - 21:00  

    Tables can be booked between 11:30 - 12:15 and 17:00 to 20:30.   

    From 12:30 to 16:45, we operate on a walk-in basis and tables cannot be reserved.    

     

    Sunday & Bank Holidays: 11:45 - 20:00  

    Tables can be booked between 11:30 - 12:15. 

    For the rest of the day, we operate on a walk-in basis and tables cannot be reserved. 

     

    Sunday Carvery: 12:00 - 14:30 (approximately)

    Tables can be booked between 11:45 - 12:00.  

    We operate on a walk in basis until 14:30 and tables cannot be reserved. 

     

    Please Note

    Our serving times, closing hours, and menus are subject to change, especially during busy periods, bank holidays, and festive seasons. During these times, a more limited menu may be available. Our chefs may alter or substitute dishes to ensure the best quality, responding to seasonality, sustainability, and changes from our local suppliers. For more information, please call us.

    We have a limited number of high chairs available. Please be aware high chairs are on a first-come first-served basis.  

    The maximum number of guests that can be booked at a table is 20. The table is available for 2 hours. For groups larger than 20 guests, please email events@southcausey.co.uk, and our Events Manager, Frances, will be happy to assist you with your reservation.

At South Causey Inn, we take enormous care and pride in our food, using locally sourced ingredients. We work closely with our trusted suppliers to ensure the best products are provided by local farmers and fish from the local market is brought in daily to our restaurant for our customers.

Private Dining Pods

Our Private Dining Pods are fitted with internal heaters, solid floors and doors, speakers for music, and festoon lights throughout - making your experience a one to remember! Blankets and hot water bottles will be provided for you to keep you extra cosy during the colder nights.

Indulge in a selection of delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, and a mouth-watering range of homemade goodies. Enjoy this quintessentially British tradition with our free-flowing wide range of loose leaf teas, coffee, or a yummy hot chocolate!

Our lunchtime specials menus are available Monday to Friday and includes lots of our Causey favourites. Get two courses for an amazing price or our Our Tapas Tower which allows you to enjoy three different tapas plates.

Sunday Lunch & Carvery

We pride ourselves on delivering hearty and wholesome Roasts that families can come and enjoy in cosy surroundings every Sunday. Our team of chefs put in many preparation hours to ensure each of the Roasted Meats are cooked to perfection!

We're Dog Friendly

We passionately believe that dog-friendliness is the key ingredient to the perfect location. We have six dogs and a cat of our own, you'll see Socks the cat roaming the grounds when you arrive! We have separate dining areas which you can book with your furry friend.

    We gladly welcome our guests to bring along their four-legged friends, whether that be for a night away in one of our dog-friendly bedrooms, or lunch and dinner in our dog-friendly dining areas.

    We just have a few house rules... to respect all diners who come to South Causey Inn, we kindly ask that you keep your pooch on a lead, not let them on the furniture, and keep feeding time outside in the bowls provided by us. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Breakfast, Coffee & Scones
