Celebrate Mother’s Day with a truly memorable experience, combining heritage, countryside charm and indulgent treats. On Sunday 15th March 2026, join us for a delightful Steam Train Ride & Afternoon Tea in partnership with Tanfield Railway.
The day begins with a warm welcome at Tanfield Railway at 10:45am, where you’ll board a beautifully restored steam train for a scenic heritage journey through the stunning Causey countryside. Sit back, relax and soak up the nostalgic sights, sounds and gentle rhythm of steam as you travel through this historic landscape.
Following your journey, you’ll return to the peaceful surroundings of South Causey Inn, where a traditional Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea awaits. Served in the rustic charm of our country inn, enjoy a delicious selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, and an assortment of dainty cakes, accompanied by your choice of tea or coffee. To make the afternoon even more special, guests will be entertained by a live singer in The Old Barn, creating a relaxed and uplifting atmosphere as you dine.

Timings:
- 10:45 – Arrival at Tanfield Railway (East Tanfield Station)
- 11:20– Steam Train Journey
- Make your way back to South Causey Inn, park in the Old Barn Carpark
- 13:00 (approx) – Afternoon Tea in the Old Barn
